Not to start a trade war or anything, lol, but isn't the high price of RV's in Canada more attributable to the social assistance programs, i.e. "free" health care, stifling taxes, and flat value of the Canadian Dollar, which makes almost everything in Canada more expensive than the U.S., more the reason for higher prices when compared to the U.S. than being a small market? The density of population in Ontario from Toronto to Buffalo, NY should create a robust healthy competition of competing Canadian dealers if not for the economic and social differences between the two countries that create these higher priced RV's of all sizes.
I understand what you are saying, but actually I'm looking at the base price before the taxes so it sort of excludes those variables. I also factored in the value of the dollar. And MH's can be imported basically duty-free if made in the US, just pay the federal and provincial taxes (there are some limitations). No Class A's are made in Canada anyhow, all dealers import from the US for the same price I can.
Yes our dollar is weaker now but it was at par when I bought my previous MH and prices were in line with the US before taxes at that time. I could compare to NADA (as a guide only) or check the online and dealer sites in the US and MHs were basically the same price as here.
Now dealers seem to have gone wild in their prices before any government input(taxes) and they can make an extra 15 -25% by selling them in the US (causing a shortage and artificially increasing demand).
Of course in a free market they can charge what the consumer will bear and I am guilty of contributing by paying more than I should have.
