Yes, you simply can. That’s the truth.
Nobody said ‘forever and ever’, the comment made was that no Canadian could drive a US plated vehicle into Canada and that simply is not true. It can stay a maximum of 6 months plus one day before it needs to cross the border again. No different than a Canadian plated vehicle entering the US.
Are there restrictions, yessir. Is it “no how no way”, not it’s not.
I have been bringing my FL plated car back and forth (several times per year) since 2005 and have never had any issues or more than a couple of questions asked at the border ever.
The trick is, as with anything else, know the rules ahead of time and have all the right answers at the border.
well not sure where you got your info? the info I got was as a Canadian citizen you simply can not legally drive a US plated car in canada ; you can arrive at border and drive it to a designated location where it must remain unused and driven from said location directly back to the us and all within 30 days
Conveyances imported temporarily under these Regulations are admissible for personal transportation only from the point of arrival to a specified destination in Canada and return within 30 days, when the purpose of importation is to transport personally owned goods into or out of Canada.
Similarly, customs inspectors may permit importation in instances where a resident is required, due to unforeseen circumstances or emergency reasons, to utilize a conveyance on which duties have not been paid for personal transportation to reach a specified destination in Canada and return.
Under no circumstances are conveyances admissible under these Regulations for touring purposes or for other leisure activities in Canada, nor is any local use permitted (e.g., point to point movement in Canada).
