Can't fill gas tank in CA... nozzle won't fit into opening.

While the OP is trying to fill his fuel tank, I hope to visit CA sometime soon. Really like the state for it's geographical diversity and the only state with a Mediterranean climate. Not saying that I would want to live there and cope with some of it's expensive problems, but it is one of my favorite states for visiting.

...and meanwhile, the OP is still in need of a good way to get fuel into his MH....


I suggest going online and searching "Gas Filler Extension", "Gas Filler Nozzel Extension", etc. There are several items that come up. Perhaps at the very least, may give you and idea for a DIY filler extension of some sort(?)

We also had several encounters with people that were offended with the size and appearance of our Class A (and many that admired it). There is also an active thread on RV.Net about similar situations. It's disappointing when people don't understand what we have done to own one.

I should have posted a smiley face after my comment about Southern CA. We do enjoy all parts of CA, and have great friends in Malibu and Pasadena. which we visit often. It is truly a magical day when you can see the Santa Monica Mountains, which happens more now that in the past.

The irritating situation with my nozzle is the price of progress, and I blame W/I more that I do CA. They are trying to create a better situation for themselves... and us.

Do I dare say anything about global warming?

As per the link I posted above, some options include moving the inlet outboard and tilting slightly downward with shims. I'll try that first so that I don't have to carry another thing for a single use. If that doesn't work, I'll modify an oil can spout to extend the nozzle, and add some method of compressing the rubber cuff without spending $20 for a McCuff.

The southern half of California? That's one of the best parts (don't tell anybody). The lack of humidity, beautiful sunny skies..... California is one of my favorite states and I could have bought a second home anywhere. I love the desert as I've been going in the winter for almost 25 yrs.

I would never cut down someone else's home town/state as everyone of our 50 states has something positive to offer. Gett'n ready to head to Michigan this summer as my nephew is marrying a girl from that area (they live in the south like me). Can't beat nice Michigan summer temps and water front property in the middle of summer.

California is the leader in emission controls and there is a reason. Have any of you ever seen a city the size of Los Angeles before catalytic converters? The clean air acts have turned most polluted cities around 100%. In the old days, the smog was so thick in LA that you couldn't see the houses along the side from the freeway. It's a whole different world now and continually getting better.

So, I'm getting gas in Oregon, and I say to the attendant (I can't touch the nozzle), I hope that this fits, and he says.... you come from CA? I say it didn't fit there, and he says... Just recut the opening at the back of the fiberglass enclosure and lower the intake. I've done it for a friend. OK.. I'll try that. I love getting wisdom from people that are actually involved in the work needed.

Nothing that can't be fixed with a knife. Slit the edge of the gator and pull it back.
