Carry out statellite TV

I have a dome type satellite on the roof, but it doesn't work.
Wineguard say's no parts for it any more.
I'd like to get a carry out satellite antenna.
Dealer say's they're not very good.
What do you guys think ?

Actually Dish has one you can connect 2 receivers. We still use an older Tailgater with very good HD reception.

The carryout can "connect" 2 receivers a well but since Dish uses 3 different satellites to broadcast their programming and a dome can only see 1 satellite at a time the second receiver will be limited to watching programming coming from the same satellite selected by the primary receiver. I know it "works" but there are limitations.
  • I have used a Carry Out for about eight years. It has worked well for me. It does not receive HD signals.

When I'm worried about security I lock it to my coach or a tree using a cable designed to secure a motorcycle. My Carry Out has a metal tab designed for a security lock.

I read an account online where a camper put a doorknob security device on his antenna. Early in the morning the doorknob alarm went off. He hurried outside to find someone fiddling with his antenna. The guy claimed that he thought it was a barbeque and that he wanted to look at it.

    Safe travels. JD
  • I bought a stainless steel dog tether cable, looped it through the handle and around fixed object like a tree or through a wheel.
I do not lock it down all the time, just when we will be day-tripping.
  • I plan on using the receiver from the house, which is Direct TV.
The dealer had them on the shelf.......I think it was the Winegard G2.
I like the idea of a stand.
What about security for the dish?
  • Carry out works great for us with Direct TV receiver from house.
My early one can change from Direct TV to Dish via dip switches.
I got the tri-pod to get the unit off the ground. Rain in some areas may get into the unit.
Power connector from factory isn't the best in the world.
  • I think your dealer does not sell them or have them in stock seeing how there are literally thousands of them out there working just fine.
  • I have the winegard carry out gm1518 i think, 2010 era. I get directv standard, dish hd or standard. 2 ports on side for 2 recievers. Has 1 cable for 12 volt, and 1 for rg8 cable. Had it 5 yrs oñly trouble was the cable end went bad from flexing. They also make a rear ladder mount for it but its pricey.

  • The Winegard Carryout G2 is excellent and will give you excellent reception with the added flexibility to move it out from under the trees if that's where you happen to park. All the domes are limited in capability such as no HD with DirecTV and being limited to using only 1 receiver with Dish (but full HD).
