You can change from regular oil to synthetic or back and it won’t hurt any thing. I have never seen creditable proof of it doing any damage.
I run full synthetic oil in my RV (in the interest of full disclosure it is a Cummins) I am running Mobil1 5-40 turbo diesel truck. There are other good synthetic oils such as Shell Rotella T6 5-40. One of the main reasons I like the 5-40 synthetics is the oil gets to critical parts faster on start up. Can you say turbo. I hear all the people saying they don’t need the extra protection of synthetic oil. I would rather have the extra margin that it provides in protecting the turbo bearings under high heat and load. Synthetics also resist coaking of the oil in the passageways in hot areas like the turbo. They also have better detergent packages to control internal deposits and control soot in the oil.
