If you research a little further you will find the shallow pan capacity has been reduced to 19 quarts. Also if you read further you will see that 11,000 miles is not the only shallow pan change criteria. Another is "Or 1100 gallons of fuel burned" . That is too often ignored as in a typical vehicle that will be about 7500 miles with a average 7.5 MPG and 7.5 MPG is a pretty good guess for a average for a C-7.
