Cat C9 Engine

6500 miles/year is about normal and better than one that only got 2000/year.

I'm a retired truckdriver! When I was working I had a CAT C-9 motor in my Peterbuilt Semi and, I went 1,200,000 miles before the engine was rebuilt (in frame) the first time. The C-9 engine was then rebuilt two other times before I retired. I guess what I'm trying to tell you is you will wear out the inside of your RV before you wear out that motor. IMHO CAT's were the greatest diesel engines ever built.

Great motorhome, Have it checked out, which I'd do no matter what the mileage. If everything checks out, the mileage is nothing to be concerned about.

I'd be more worried about the condition of the 'house' portion. Chassis, engine, tranny are like new considering they're made for a million miles or more.

I would take it to Cat dealer and have them run a diagnostic scan.They should have a complete history of work completed at an authorized dealer.

The miles are just fine. Don't worry about them. Check the maint and overall condition.

That is a top notch coach. I had a an oil aynalisis done on my rig at 75k. Stated showing signs of breaking in. Your good to go.

I'd not worry about the engine as much as I would the rest of the running gear. Overhauling the tranny will bankrupt a small nation.

The General public cannot get the 'cream puff' mentality out of their heads, which means driven to Church on Sundays with LOW miles. We are all like that to a certain extent. It was drilled into our heads growing up with gas engines.

When we sold our '08 Dynasty in the fall of '14, it had just shy of 70,000 miles on the 425hp Cummins. We picked up the coach new in April of '07 so we owned it for 7.5 yrs.

The consignment shop said customers would question the high miles because that's what customers do. At 70,000 miles, a diesel engine is barely broke in as long as it has full service records to prove good maintenance.

If I were you, I wouldn't shy away from a coach with 65,000 miles as long as they can prove that it has been serviced regularly. You would probably want to have a mechanic go over the engine no matter which motorhome you buy. As said many times on this site, a rarely used unit is not necessarily a good unit.
