Catalytic Converters

The mechanic says my 2001 Winnebago Adventurer, 6.8L V10 needs a new catalytic converter. I am in California so if you are familiar with the rules here, it is hard to get. Planning on leaving the state by next summer so I won't have to deal with the issues of passing smog/dmv registration. Any suggestions on where to get one, maybe cross into Arizona? Any contacts you know of on this side of the country?
  • Many muffler shops have aftermarket cat convertors and are a lot cheaper then from a dealer, but more important is to repair what caused the convertor to go bad in the first place. how is the RV running now? could be unburned fuel has contaminated the catalyst.` `But google for muffler shops in your area and see if any replace convertors.

Here is one in San Dieago that google brought up. hanson muffler
  • Hi,

How many miles have you driven? Sorry to hear they are "hard to get".
