100 miles will usually do it. I learned the hard way after rebuilding a flood-total Caddy that OBD-II engine management has "monitors". The monitors will show "ready" after a certain amount of ignition cycles and/or mileage have transpired. The "ready" status varies by monitor type (catalyst, EVAP, etc.). You can't just clear the codes and run it through (in states where they do an OBD-II check).
Even the cheap code scanners will tell you what monitors are showing ready for inspection and which are not.
