Cell Booster Install
Hi All,
I just purchased a wilson cell phone booster with trucker antenna and was hoping to get some feedback on some installation ideas.
The kind I have is the kind that boosts and rebroadcasts inside the motorhome. The antenna wire is pretty short (13.5ft) and the antenna mounts to the rear ladder. So pretty much the booster will have to be mounted in the rear of the coach.
So I was thinking of drilling a small hole in the side of the bedroom ceiling vent. I took the inside cover off the vent and discovered that an un-used AC channel goes from it to the rear coach wall. From there there is a small gap in the soft ceiling and the rear wall that I could tuck the wire into, finally making its way into the cabinet above our bed.
From there I was thinking of mounting the booster inside the cabinet.
OK.. so far.. doesnt seem too hard.
Now I have an inside antenna to mount. The inside antenna is only good for 5ft of range and Ideally I'd like to have it in the front of the coach, but I suppose I could mount a 4G hotspot into the same cabinet and still get data throughout the coach. I guess for phone calls we'd just have to have our phones in the rear of the coach.
How does this sound so far?
Two main questions so far...
#1. If I do drill into the metal of the side of the vent, whats the best substance to seal that hole?
#2. Is this a terrible idea?
#3. If I do all this, do I just leave the exposed wire loose on the roof? its about a 3-4ft distance from antenna to vent.
THanks!
