Change in Alliance Water Separation Filter?

After changing out my water separator/fuel filter on my 07 Freightliner chassis (07 Journey), I went to Freightliner to buy another filter to keep as a spare as we travel. Even though the part number is the same, the filter has changed drastically. On the bottom where the clear bowl screws on, the old filters have a hole in the center where the center tube sits and has a rubber gasket there to seal the top of the tube. On the new filter, there is no hole, just a metal plate. The only holes are small ones around the outside perimeter. Of course Alliance has no phone number or way to contact them to ask questions, they just direct you to the dealer, who said "that is the part number I show." It is ABP/N122-R50418.

Has anybody used this new style filter with the old separator bowl?
