The two intermittent cruise shutting off issues I've run into on F53's and F59's are the mentioned cruise disconnect switch on the master cylinder and a weak brake pedal return spring. The 2005 F53 chassis was not subject to the Ford cruise switch recalls, but the switch is still subject to failure, just not the fire starting failure the recalls covered. A weak brake pedal return spring can allow the pedal to bounce and shut off the cruise on random bumps.
