Chevrolet Roadtrek - Battery Separator
We have always been critical of our coach batteries (Interstate SRM 27 12volts x 2) since they ran out of steam very quickly on the road. It turns out that the separator (isolator on many B Class) was not working properly and the coach batteries were not being charged. Coupled with that, one of the two functions of the separator is to provide assistance to the chassis battery to start the engine.
We needed the assistance after three days dry camping and the chassis battery at 9.0+ volts, would only click the relay on turning the key. It turns out that this function was not wired in by Roadtrek.
This is currently being rectified. However, there was a recall on these Sure Power Separators Models 1314, 1315, 1318, 1319 dated June 29, 2011 giving serial numbers. I found the recall notice after I had ordered a new 1315-200. Hopefully the replacement will not give us trouble.
