I just sold a class B van (Roadtrek 190P) on the Chevy Express Van G3500 chassis - it had the 350CI V8 with the 4 speed automatic OD transmission and I always thought it was under powered. The van fully loaded (fuel/water/cargo/us) weighed around 8700 lbs. and it usually had difficulty with 5%-6% uphill grades. Right lane w/4-way flashers was fairly common for our travels in hill country. That chassis also had some braking deficiencies as well, in my opinion, so the downhill grades were also an adventure at times, depending on the steepness and duration. It was fine on the flat. I liked everything else about that motor home, except that lack of a full bath. Average 16 MPG, it ranged between 13-18, road conditions dependent.
