Chevy Class C?

Hi All just wondering which manufactures make Class C units with a Chevrolet drive train. Almost everyone I have seen has the ford F450 platform. Not trying to start a Ford Chevy war ( I have owned both in pick up trucks) but what is your preference and why? Thanks in Advance:)

When I bought my Tiger, they were made on a Chevy chassis only. Now you can have one on a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge chassis. That said, I really like my Chevy. Comfortable, reliable, powerful. No big issues in 83K miles.

The Chevy dealer nearest to my home will not service it because it is too tall for their bay. It is about 10 miles to the dealer who can handle it. No big deal.
  • Most of them do, just not in the longest floor-plans, due to the lighter FAWR on the Chevy.
  • The BIG difference is the amount of room on the passenger side. Ford is terrible, Chevy is roomy! Both are such developed platforms performance and durability is a wash.
  • It is nice to see at the last gathering of RV MFG that they are offering more of their products on a Chevy Chassis than they previously offered in the last few years.

    Like these.

    Thor Four Winds or Chateau

Coachman Concord or Leprechaun or Freelander just click on floor plans to see them

Forest River Sunseeker or Forester just click on floor plans to see them.

    Jayco

    Roadtrek

    Leisure

    Just to name a few.

Also see This thread for more reasons and also hear from others that own them.
  • Off the top of my head, Coachman and Forest River makes Class C on Chevrolet chassis.

I have the Chevy chassis (G-30) because in that year (1994) it was the better engine and drive train that was available. It also lent itself for a more robust and quality 4 wheel drive conversion.
  • I would buy the one that can be repaired by a dealer near you. Not all Chev or Ford dealerships can fit an rv into their garages.

Some dealers will not work on either because they say the rv mfg altered it and then the warranty war begins between the chassis mfg and the rv mfg.

Chevy front passenger side footwells seem to be roomier.
Some people have found the Ford cab to be too hot.
