While I don't want to tell the OP how they should or shouldn't spend their money, this advice is one I often give.
Take the cost of the warranty and put it in a savings account. For every covered repair, pay the deductible out of pocket then take the rest from that account.
Chances are after X number of years (however long your contact was supposed to be for) you'd still have money left.
As always, there are exceptions. I'm willing to take the chance.
