We have 9 in our 2000 Beaver, not including windshield, driver or door windows. We have tinted windows that are almost impossible to see in through from outside except at night when the lights are on.
I think those who say they are always sitting outside are most likely vacationers/weekenders. If you're a full-timer sitting outside is not such a necessity unless the weather is particularly nice. Furthermore, with the large number of windows we have, we always feel like we are outside particularly when the weather is nice enough for them to be open.
We recently visited with friends who have a new MH; when we stepped out of their coach we felt like we had come out of a movie theater, it was so dark inside with very few windows combined with a totally brown interior decor with absolutely no color.
