Class A Insurance - Options

This "Topic" has been discussed but mostly with emotion. (JMHO)

I am getting ready to renew? or change, we have been with Progressive and just need to shop the rates and coverage options.

Appears to just keep going up - (sound familiar) just wondering if there are any surprises, good deals or new agents/companies to contact.

Progressive
Geico
Allstate
Nationwide
Local agent

These are the normal options and in the order I rated them what do you think, and why?

In my 50 years paying in --- I have never had a claim, but feel like I've bought a New Coach.

Just looking for a good option - so if you have something positive to add please join in.

TIA,
  • Really, the only thing you can do is to start calling each place for a rate depending on YOUR circumstances. Everyone is different and what someone states as a good price might not hold for you and vice versa.

Insurance is based on many things - where the RV is garaged, your age, health, driving record, credit score, etc.

    Good luck!
  • The one additional player in RV insur, a few years back, is Blue Sky. Like many of the others they offer attractive initial rates to get new customers, then increase the rates each year.
Many of these annual increases are across the board for an entire state or for an entire block of zip codes within a state. The increase has nothing to do with your record or your policy specifics, its based on the insur companies prior yr results in that area.

edit: the other one you didn't mention that's big in RV insur, at least in some states, is National Interstate

  • Safeco currently has a very good rv package. Go to an independent agent and they can quote you with multiple companies.

state farm unless you're fulltiming. I've been with SF since 1966 which should tell you something.
  • In your pursuit of an insurance company you may want to include "Foremost Insurance Co" in your search.

We've had both our first and current coach insured by them since 1995 over which time we've filed several claims which were handled in a timely manner with no hassle.

Over the 20 years we only recently experienced an annual premium increase from $827 to $922.

Good luck with your search & safe travels...:)
  • MD has one of the highest rates in the country. That being said I have Progressive and it hasn't increased in 5 years even though I had a windshield claim. I am based in MD also.
  • We've been insured with National Interstate for 4 years. Last year and again this year, we had a significant rate increase with no accidents or claims. I checked around and got a few other quotes and none were any cheaper.
  • Twin Peaks agency... Ft. Lauderdale. Multi lines, good service. Cost conscious, FMCA commercial member.

Happy for 15 years class A service. :)
