2 teenage daughters and they want to travel? Most will do it once and that is it as they will be busy with 'other' stuff. You can get small class a's and larger c's. but with your mentioning a 454 I guess you are looking at arounf 20 year old vehicles. Most went to FI either TBI or indirect about the late 80's. I would not tell you which to buy as YOU are the one that needs to determine what is really desired. A c will sleep 6 with some difficulty as long as someone does not mnd sleeping over the cab and or on a couch/dinette. An A will sleep 6 without the over cab unless you find one with a loft bed as some had some years ago. Again depending on model you will have the options of the dinette and/or couch for someone to sleep on plus the master bed in both types.
Long c's have a long overhand to keep track of as do some a's. You need to drive each type if possible and go from there with the one that is most comfortable to drive for all drivers involved unless you be the designated driver!
Go look at some dealer lots DO NOT let them push you into anything, when we were looking they kept pushing small a's as they were similar in price to a nice B+ or a fancy c. Once you make the basic decision is the time to start looking for more answers. If nothing else look at craigs list for older rv's and look to see if there is anything there to consider. But when they advertise 454 chebby or 460 ford and older than 88-89 you will be dealing with a carb engine.
