Agreed, not everybody can take a hit. We drove our previous new 2008 Monaco Dynasty for 7.5 yrs. and 70,000 miles as I mentioned previously.
We received 49% back of what we paid AFTER 7.5 years. So, a 50% loss in the first year is not true.

In this market new RVs will loose more value the first year than the 08 and prior.
if got half your money back on an 08 with 70,000 you did way better than most.
Tom, again, I respectively disagree. The market is starting to roar again. Coaches are selling and at decent prices if you negotiate correctly. I don't think our sale was out of the ordinary. There are many coaches with less miles which would probably have narrowed the percentage to maybe 51-52% of return on price paid.
Our 2008 coach was considered 'high mileage' as you can find 2008's all day long with 20K-30K miles on them. People are taught early in life to 'buy that low mileage cream-puff'. Diesels like to be run and I bet ours will run better than an equal coach with lower mileage (drivetrain).
On edit: If a person loses 50% in one year on a new coach, they did not buy it correctly and I'm sure that can happen for someone who does not like to negotiate. But, I doubt someone would sell a new coach within one year unless there was a tragic event in their lives (death, injury, etc.).
I was paralyzed from the neck down five years ago that lasted two weeks when the flu shot attacked my spinal cord. The thought of having to sell the coach and the ability to drive did cross my mind. Thank goodness to the powers that be that I recovered 98%. The recovery rate of what happened to me is only 33% for a full recovery. I was sure lucky.
