Class As in Carabelle Beach RV Campground

Has anyone stayed at Carabelle Beach RV campground on the gulf coast in Florida? Any pros or cons welcome.
  • We are an hour and half away from the resort. We stay frequently as do our inlaws. Beach is pet friendly, we have refreshments and cocktails at sunset. Have stayed in a 35 ft Mountaineer Fiver, 38 ft Bigsky Fiver, now a 41 ft Dutchstar. Pool is nice as another noted, our 7 year old grandson is welcome where he is not at Ho Hum. (Have stayed at HO Hum when GS was not with us.)Holidays and the park is very popular, when it passes it quiets down. Don't know that we have had a bad stay there. When we call we are most always get a spot, greeted as family. We had a family Thanksgiving with non RV family folks staying in cottages onsite. Yellow flies this past spring early summer there were just about as bad as it gets. Just had to dress appropriately be inside screened area at dusk. We adapted. We also have enjoyed St George a great deal, it is a short drive over.We kayak a lot and we enjoy that most at St George. We get fresh seafood from Millenders in Carrabelle. Up the Creek in Apalach is a very nice place to eat. Oyster City Brewing just opened and have great local beer. Carrabelle Junction is a unique place to eat, cash or check only. Hope this helps. Send me a PM if you like.
  • Suggest you consider St. George Island State Park jus across the bay from Carabelle.
  • We always stayed at the Ho Hum. It is a very simple park wedged between HWY 98 and the water. The view is beautiful and the people are great. It is an adults only, no children, park.

personally, we like Ho Hum better..Chuck
  • Just for info, the park's waterfront is St George Sound. Not the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Many of the sites aren't very level. The pool is nice. Beach was OK, but water didn't look inviting. Not a lot of restaurants, but we liked the food. Except the BBQ place. We would stay there again.
  • We stayed there a couple years ago and weren't too impressed...but the campground was full, so someone likes it....not much to do in the area.

Be sure to see the world's smallest police station. In the 60's the police had no radio so they would park next to a phone booth and wait for calls. It's dubbed the world's smallest police station and has been featured on several TV programs......Dennis
  • I also drive by it often. It is an open "parking lot" type campground but is right on the beach and appears to be very popular. There are also a couple of new campgrounds in Carrabelle this year. They look really snazzy! lizzie
  • I haven't stayed there, but I drive by it frequently. It looks like a nice park with a great view.
