Thank you all for your help. I did get to go to the Atlantic City RV show and it was very enlightening. The Era, Travato, Airstream and some roadtreks were there so I got to see them and go inside. I decided they are way too small for me, my nephews wouldn't even be able to stand up inside. So now I am going to start researching class B+/C's. Many of the dealers also said to rent one first to get the feel so that's the plan for this summer. I guess I should now move over to the class C forum. Thanks again.

We love Cape may and we are teachers as well. Listen I will give you some advice in looking for a B plus class Rv. We recently just upgraded from a Trailer to a B plus with a single slide. If you look on the net their are used B plus units that are sound and dry and have low mileage. We got a 2004 BT cruiser modle 2790 with 25,000 miles on it, it was well taken care of and got it for 1/3 the price as a new one for 30k. I did some upgrades to it and removed carpet and laid hard wood flooring and cleaned and compounded outside. You can have that done for not so much if needed as well and still save 10s of thousands verse a new unit. Now it looks new in and out and I saved a lot of money just searching for months till I found a suitable unit. You may enjoy having a bedroom area as we really do and the b Plus coach are about a foot lower than a C class and are easy to drive and park. They range for 23 ft with pullout sofa to 28 that can sleep 4. I get about 12mpg verse these new diesels at 18mpg but the new ones cost close to 100k so what do you really save verse spending 30 k used for that 4 more mpg? Its like driving a big van, last year we parked fine in a small seaside town up in Maine and if we choose to pull a car it has the power to do that as well. On a Ford 450 Chassis. plenty of room to be comfortable in at the same time not a super big unit best of both worlds. We plan on full timing in a few years in it and is why we bought it last year that is unless Gov. Christy messes with our teacher pensions some more here in NJ. Take your time look and drive. The Fords E450s really hold up well with minimal mechanical problems so you should have years of service.

Boondocking is the practice of camping in an RV in a location other than an RV facility. There are no connections for power, water or sewer. The RV is completely dependent on its own systems. In urban areas it is called Urban Camping Probably the most common place for boon docking/urban camping, other than the actual boondocks and city streets, is the Wal-Mart parking lot. You should poke around YouTube to find videos on the subject. You can try Nomadic Fanatic, 2012escapee1, jenniferblogaccount, and the early Chris Penn videos, though he now calls his channel Chris Travels, I believe.

I had the same thoughts as you. I made a list of things I definitely wanted and another of things that would be nice. Then I was able to make a more fair comparison to price. For example I wouldn't even consider one without a generator and AC because when boondocking I still wanted AC.

I've been following all your suggestions and going to the various sites you recommend.. Please continue to do so, there is so much information to look through. I know I will buy a used RV so my question is what factors are considered in depreciation and is there a way to calculate what a good price for a used RV's? As I originally said I have about 2 yrs before I will buy (2016).

If you end up deciding a Class B is for you, I highly recommend checking with Van City RV in St. Louis before buying. They have a good reputation on this forum and we saved $3K for exactly the same van by buying from them. Once we decided on an LTV, they beat the NC LTV dealer's (who is 3 hours from where we live) best price by that much.

We made the deal over the phone and when we went to St. Louis to pick it up there were no surprises, price was as agreed to and no add ons. They were great to deal with. And they paid for the flight to St. Louis for my wife and I to pick it up and met us at the airport. We have no connection to them and get no benefit from recommending them.

Almost everything in an RV that is likely to fail is warranted by someone else anyway, so not having a dealer close has never been a problem with us. There was never an issue with the LTV conversion that would have required an LTV dealer visit. And Van City handles arguably three of the highest quality conversion companies.
