Sure, some of the big class A's are built on quality platforms but they are just not as reliable as vans that are commercial vehicles used as ambulances, airport shuttles, delivery vans, etc. Millions of them have been built. Just read the Class A forum for the horror stories, and compare it to this one. The only vehicle problems with our 2 E-350 based RV's have been 2 flat tires in 10 years, thru 45 states, 6 Canadian provinces and 2 Mexican states.
One of our friends with a Tiffin broke down 2 years ago and were stuck in Iowa for a week waiting for parts and repairs, it was a suspension or axle problem, as I remember. What a pain! Your trip can be ruined, you lose reservations in popular places, and miss events you wanted to attend. Why would a newbie want this when there is such a good option - a small RV.
