I just had mine repaired. Boy when you really get to look at how they attach that couch and what type of wood they use it's sad.
Anyway they took it right out the door. I too was concerned about the wives tale of having to take it out the window. RV mobile repair said he hasn't seen one yet that didn't go out the door.
BTW He rebuilt the frame with real 2x4's and then attached with real wood and screws! Now it sits upright correctly and opens and closes correctly.
IMHO a real Easy inexpensive fix compared to replacing the whole couch.
