  • Fords get picked on a lot in this sub-forum. They are the Microsoft Windows of 15 years ago. Completely dominating the industry, but with a lot of user gripes.
    :)

I own a Chevy B+(C). I find its leg room, handling, and MPG to be satisfactory. These are the areas where Chevys supposedly exceed the Ford. But to be fair, I have not owned a Ford Class C. I have sat in them, and have a new Chevy Class C on order right now.

Another area that doesn't get as much attention is ride quality. Our Chevy 3500 rides great. Again, I have no Ford experience to compare. Some people with small C's built on the heavier Ford 450 chassis have expressed complaints about harsh ride. Others with the same rigs are satisfied. The small Sunseeker we have ordered comes on the heavier Chevy 4500. I was concerned about that. It comes with Firestone air bags, at least on Sunseekers. From what I've read from owners, maybe it is not as heavily sprung as it would have been without the air bags. In any event, the owners seem to like the ride quality of that setup.

So, I like the Chevy, so far. I wish one of them would come up with something equal in cab comfort to the Sprinter, though. Maybe the future Ford Transit will be just that.
  • I haven't had a Ford but I have the Chevy Express 6L. I have been happy with it. From what I read the Chevy has better gas mileage, I have gotten 9.0 MPG towing a car and about 95 hours of generator use (uses gas from the tank). It also has a more comfortable driving position, especially if you are big. It has required very little maintenance, I have about 45,000 miles on it.

I would not be concerned about getting the Chevy.
  • If you google "ford vs chevy" for this site, you'll get 8300 results...you just have to add "site: rv.net" onto the end, like this:
    "ford vs chevy" site: rv.net

(No space between the site: and rv.net...have to put one in here because the colon and R together become :r. Just click the link and you'll see how to do it.)
