Class C Hitch Fasteners

Wanted to remove the hitch from my Class C Ford 450 chassis 2007 motorhome to have some welding done. The mounting hardware (bolts)are strange or different. No hex head on bolt or nut. they are both round. What appears to be the nut is 3/4" long, round, and threaded inside. At first, I thought they were heavy duty press on fasteners. They were installed by the modifier of the frame not Ford. Has anyone removed these fasteners?

  • Huck bolts can be replaced with grade 8 bolts of the same diameter, the only benefit of a huck fastener is that they will not vibrate loose and have tremendous clamping force.
  • Seems it would be OK to cut the huck bolts off and then replace them with Grade 8 bolts. 3/4 and 1 ton pick-ups have bolted on hitches that are pulling 5th wheels that are heavier than pulling a toad.

Look up HUCK bolts, I think this might be what you are looking at. Also you can find a you-tube video on how to remove them.

Thank you very much. They are Huck bolts as you said!

So what is the make of MH? Usually the coach builder is the frame modifier.
