My guess is that the more or less standard and recent Ford Cutaway Van chassis is more "owner maintenance friendly" than MB, etc. but what you can do yourself on the roadside is limited. The likelihood of finding a Ford truck dealer service department in small towns is probably better than with MB, no matter where it was assembled.
You can and should familiarize yourself with any rig's plumbing and 12 volt power system plus RV generator maintenance and trouble shooting. These items are important to reliable use and enjoyment of the RV.
