I've put over 50K trouble free miles on my very used, eleven year old Ford V-10 powered Winny. I also have a best friend who is a mechanic. He does a lot of work on Sprinters. In twenty years of providing solid advice on vehicles he never let me down. As for Sprinters, he is pretty clear.....as in, a hard NO! His take is that they are severely over-engineered, needlessly complex, unreliable, expensive to maintain, and repair. As one of the few independent shops that stays 100% current on repairing any Mercedes product, he spends thousands a year, just to have access to the latest proprietary Mercedes data. Want to guess how many local and rural shops do that? I've met folks in remote areas that were waiting days for repairs to common domestic vehicles, just because that part of the Yukon, or another remote spot in North America, didn't have the required OEM parts in stock. I've also met a Sprinter owner who was told the solution to his warranty problem was to hire a rollback and have his Sprinter delivered to a dealer 700 miles away. Sorry, No thanks.
