Jul 31, 2013I don't think we can come to any conclusion by one or two random observations. Some things I noticed on my trips around the country that probably have no significance. In southern Arizona at Karchner Caverns in late November, we were the only camper that was not an Airstream. In Ohio at at another time, the campground was dominated by travel trailers all clad in aluminum. Another campground somewhere USA, we were the only ones not in a tent although there were spaces for all but very large class A rigs. What I get from all this is that it depends mostly when and where. Here is the question that bothers me. Is our economy so bad that often the only other camper in the whole place is the campground host? When I was younger and a bit poorer, we never failed to pile into a Honda car with a car-top carrier and pitched a tent. I do know where all the RVs spend most of their time. The other day I saw a storage lot with RVs all shapes and sizes. I never see that lot less than full.
