Class C regrets/Options you wish you had?First time class C

We are looking at moving up to a class C from a small trailer and after searching for a few days online there are alot of different floor plans/options and i have no idea whats needed and whats just a luxury. What do you have and not use or wish you had. Were looking at 02 coachmen santara 292.We like the slide option for more room and need a rear bed with front bunk for kids. As long as this has the 5000lb tow rating were going to look at it this weekend (well if they still have it)

  • Just going to a class c after a trailer is huge!

Now while you're driving down the highway your wife can make you a sandwich!
The kids can watch movies or sleep in the front bunk!

Well maybe not because everybody should have their seat belts on,oh well.

We have the 2010 21qb Coachmen Freelander and like it just fine.
The chevy chassis has been flawless.

Small enough for day trips yet still has that corner bed there all the time.
I have taken her to the mall in it where she can shop for hours!
I have my fridge and bathroom at hand..food and drinks! Tv and roof air!
  • I look for most of the above, but also would include an arctic package; meaning fresh, hot water, and holding tanks being heated. In addition, true thermo windows, and hydraulic auto levelers.

Having enough carrying capacity for all the stuff you intend to take would be at the top of my list. The ones I've looked at have very limited capacity.

im sure well be good with that, were used to a 16' camper now

The chances of 5000 tow rating in a C are usually not available. Don't let the salesperson tell you it's OK do your research. I agree with Bobbo and I wish I had got a slide. We didn't because we spend little time inside, but when we went on our 13 state trip it would have been nice.

now what im seeing is the e450 chassis depending on length have a 5000lb towing cap and 350lb tounge weight. am i finding incorrect info?
  • I strongly agree about the OCCC of these rigs. I bailed on a deal for a Jayco Greyhawk b/c it only had 1600 pounds. I went w/ what I have b/c it had a floorplan I liked and 2900 pounds of OCCC. However, the quality of materials inside the rig are not as nice as the Jayco's. There is no free lunch ...

    Some things we considered non-negotiable:
    1. ducted air
    2. fiberglass roof
    3. slide out
    4. slide does not block anything important when "in"
    5. walk around full size queen size bed
