Class c vs. class a

I was just wondering what the advantages are of a class c versus a small class a? I have owned a travel trailer, fifthwheel and currently a 40' diesel pusher that I am selling. I have always been under the impression that class c's are more prone to water leaks in the front. I am tossing between going back to a fifthwheel or a smaller drive able and was just wondering what the advantages are. Thank you in advanced.

  • For me with a class a an a imobile wife our class a equiped with a lift --laminated flooring -washer an drier was perfect fit. This made it easier for potty stops an so forth. Before we had a 5th wheel an also-bumper pull--- an than briefly had a class c.Because my wife would still have to get out of passenger seat to get in living part it did not work an also the drivebility was better in our class a an also noise was a factor with class c. a However last Wendesday on the Pa turnpike plaza we lost it totally to fire.
I will take this opportunity to tell all of you to think about what if you have a fire. From experience you DO NOT HAVE MUCH TIME TO EXIT! I would say there was only 2-3 minutes until coach was filled with toxic smoke an rv was totally consumed in 15---20 minutes!
Now for the hunt for replacement
  • to minimize water leaks, you might consider a similar size B+. They do not hang over as far and easier to re-caulk if necessary.
  • Here are some of the factors we considered when buying our Class C: It is shorter, thereby allowing us to fit in smaller camping areas like some local, state, and even some national parks. Generally, they sleep more people which is helpful for families/friends. There are the safety factors like having the engine in front to absorb energy in case of an accident, a door for the pilot and co-pilot to exit in an emergency, and driver and passenger air bags as well. And lastly, there are generally many more places to have the chassis serviced when travelling. Hope this helps.
  • Class C's are getting better and better built. The older they are, the more prone. They are building now with one piece fiberglass roofs. Yuo do need to make sure you check the seals and seal it as needed. If you don't do that to any RV, then it's prone to leak.

We like to think of the Class C as more of a utilitarian motorhome.
