Class C without over cab beds?

As a brand new RV hopeful, I am looking for the right Class C RV but only need sleeping for 4. I prefer the entertainment and storage over the cab, because I do not need an extra bed. The Jayco Melbourne has that floor plan, but are there any others? I THINK I want a 26 to 28 ft model. I prefer used but would consider new. Does anyone know which brands have models loike that and are good Class C's?
Any recommendatons?
  • If you want to sleep four adults in a Class C then I recommend you keep the overhead bed. The dinette bed is too small for two adults and even the overhead is too small for two large adults.
  • I have a 30' Winnebago C Itasca Spirit and we also only travel with four people routinely. We have a good deal of extra room. However it will comfortably hold a couple more people if needed. You may not need anything bigger than one of Winnebagos' shorter diesel powered rvs that gets upward of 17 mpg. Also would work well if you don't toad. If you're in no hurry to buy, make your purchase in the off season for the best deal if buying NEW. I'm sure you're checking website of each mfr. so good luck.
  • Almost every majorvC manufacturer makes or has made what Gulfstream coined B+.

Winnebago/Itasca, Forest River, Thor Motorcoach (former FourWinds/Chateau/Dutchmen brands), Coachmen, Fleetwood, Gulfstream/Conquest have produced model lines similar to Jayco's Melbourne. Coachhouse, Dynamax, and Phoenix Cruiser, this is their specialty. Names of model lines have changed over the years, but look for BTCruiser, Chateau Citation, Lexington, and Aspect for example.
  • Coach House is an example of the type you're looking for, quite a few used ones in the 26-27 ft. length. they have two-slide models which will sleep four and also less expensive single slide where the dinette and the couch can be made into separate beds. Google revtrader.com or other web sites for used ones.
