IMHO, the secret is a good squeegee. Water, vinegar and water, windex, whatever matters less.
If you use any thing like paper towel, newspaper, a rag to dry the window, you will get streaks because they all leave just a trace of moisture behind. If you are lucky, it might dry quickly enough to be streak free, but a squeegee it's all or nothing. If the squeegee is clean and supple, the glass is instantly completely dry and utterly streak free; if the squeegee has a bit of something on it that leaves a streak, you need to wipe it clean and do the glass again. But either way, you know immediately if you got it or not.
