It is critical that our waste tanks smell clean because our motor home is parked in our garage under our master bedroom. We could not tolerate sewer gas.
We control odor two ways.
1) We don't poop in the toilet. We deposit that direct into public facilities.
2) When the travel season is over, I put some bleach down the drains into the tanks and fill to capacity. After they soak an hour, I flush them and all smells fresh like new.
Been practicing this for 7 years and all remains in good order.
Here is our rig stored inside under our bedroom.
