Clear plastic shelves in fridge

Cold air from the fins drops down the back of the refer...cold air sinks. So if the two bottom shelves don't impede air flow behind them, they'll be fine. They're used because spills are easier to handle on a flat surface instead of in the crispers or on the racks.

I'd leave them in to make spill cleanup easier.
