I left South Fork two weeks ago and went that way (again)as La Veta Pass is easy. I have been RVing over it for years. My Gasser does it at 35-40 mph at 4000 rpm all the way up (and down) in 2nd gear. It is longer than most Colorado passes, but very easy, just be patient. If you go South on I-25, you will go over Raton Pass which is just as easy and much shorter. Be safe and remember, you can go up a pass just about as fast as you wish, but not down the pass, gravity takes over everything and can cause speeds to increase evry fast. Keep it slow and under control and use the same gear going down as you did going up. The engine brake helps keep speeds within your compfort range.
