Planning our trip to Indiana/Michigan and looking for some road information. I am South of Colorado Springs and was planning on stopping in Lincoln, Nebraska so MapQuest gave me the following route...I-70 East to US-24 to Kansas 383 which connects to US-183 up to I-80Is there any helpful information regarding this segment of my trip from anyone who has perhaps traveled it.Thank you

Don't know if you are presently enroute or not but if you are I would be very weather conscious. There are presently heavy thunderstorms and tornadoes on that route.

Drove exactly that route last summer on our way to Neb. It is a good route with good roads.

If you're in a big hurry, and you enjoy Interstates, that's a decent route.If you have time, and want to see America, US 2 across the top of the country is much nicer. Ed

1mtnman thanks for the heads up regarding the weather. I'm still setting at home watching it rain and the wind blow.

Actually the best time to travel through Chicago is 10:30 AM. Traffic at that time will be better than after midnight. Not that I would suggest going through Chicago at all. If you don't know the roads, and are not used to the heavy traffic, you will have too many things happening all at the same time to deal with it in an RV. I do it sometimes, but I don't recommend it.

jlud; We have done the I25 to I76 route many times, also the Limon via 24 route. Have also taken hwy 50 East to Ordway and then 71 North to I-80, don't think I will take that way again. Keep looking for different routes that are workable for the MH.

Skip the I-94 that will take you through the heart of Chicago. Unless you travel through at 2 AM you'll be in traffic all day. 80 bypasses Chicago to the south better route.

Made a ton of trips from Pueblo to Iowa and Wisconsin....I would advise i25 up to 76 east then turns to i80 if you want to make time. It's the most simple route but it does lack in visual appeal. Not sure best point to turn north. I've tried the Limon way a few times out of springs and can get stuck behind tractors etc. safe travel.

DeLorme Maps said I-70 to Colby, Kansas to SR383 toward Norton, Kansas and north on 283 to I-80 to Lincoln, Nebraska. Then I-80 to I-94 beyond Chicago to New Buffalo, Michigan is 1115 miles. Just another variation depending on where you want to end up.
