Actually the best time to travel through Chicago is 10:30 AM. Traffic at that time will be better than after midnight. Not that I would suggest going through Chicago at all. If you don't know the roads, and are not used to the heavy traffic, you will have too many things happening all at the same time to deal with it in an RV. I do it sometimes, but I don't recommend it.
