compartment is locked - open - and it's of course raining

Sooo... for some unexplained reason, one compartment refuses to unlock and its open. The others all work fine.
It won't even unlock with the key... the key works, but the door latch doesn't move.

This is for an Allegro Bus.. Any suggestions?

Of course, it's raining...

  • Thank you all. It is fixed now.
And it was locked "open" not closed so the issue was we couldn't close it.
Apparently, the auto lock engaged while it was open and refused to open to allow the door to close.
We had another Tiffin owner tell us the magic word along with a traditional dance and prayer, which prompted the door to acknowledge our request to CLOSE.

    Gotta love electronics.
  • KK and FS, is the bay where the lock is stuck a pass-through bay?

If I understand what you are saying, the door is closed. If you can crawl through and take off the plastic panel covering the lock you could probably move it manually to open it.

    MM.
  • I have had that happen a couple of time when the coach was parked on a uneven site. The act of leveling caused a bit of frame twist and one bay door acted like it was locked. The solution was to go to full ride height and than it released. Found out the latch was adjusted a bit tight so a little adjustment was in order.

Might not be your problem but worth a shot.
  • On our previous coach, we had one door latch that would, on occasion, loosen up and not latch properly. It might be a similar situation. On the back of the door were three screws holding a plate over the latch assembly. I would take that plate off which gave me access to the assembly and there was a nut that would loosen just enough to allow the latch to get our of alignment. I would put the latch back and tighten that nut....then put the plate back on.
  • Is there a nut to tighten inside that holds the latch tight?
