I have a 2000 holiday rambler endeavor. Does it have a computer system?
If it is a gasser, then someone else will have to answer your question.
If it is a diesel pusher on a freightliner chassis, it has three of them. The transmission computer and the engine computer provide input to the vehicle data computer. The vehicle data computer controls various items, and sends the signals to drive the dash guages.
Fred - sch911ExplorerYes it at least an ECM, and perhaps a few more modules....
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIOn any 2000 gas engine I am fairly sure there will be an engine Control Computer.. Some also have a transmission control computer.
Even older engines had simple computers (The older, the more simple) even Henry Ford used an analog computer in his engines. But then a computer need not be an electronic device.. the first ones were not.
IN 2000, a stick shift diesel.. Might not have an electronic computer. (or it might depending on the engine) - FIRE_UPExplorerCruzkid,
Well Sir, it all depends on what you mean by "computer". As has been stated, you most likely have at least one "ECM" , otherwise known as an Engine Control Module. Each year, they come out with new and improved versions of computers and modules for running various parts of the coach. The engine is controlled by its ECM, the later transmissions, like our Allison MH3000 6-spd has its own "TCM", or, Transmission Control Module".
Then, your unit could also possibly have what's known as an "ABS" module. Or, Anti-Lock Braking System module. Then, there's what's called a "VCM" or, Vehicle Control Module", the later version, what we have in our '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330 CAT, is called an "MMDC" or, Multi-Module-Data-Controller" Both of those later items are units that receive data from all the other "CMs" and either change it or, decipher it and transmit it to the various gauges and dials.
So, do you have any of the above? Most likely. Just what version, not a clue. Engines, both gas and diesel have had electronic controls for quite some time now. The later the engine(s), the more technical the versions of the controllers are. The newest ones, you just about have to be a graduate of MIT to be able to analyze and work with them. Good luck.
Scott - spacedoutbobExplorerIt probably has a BCM to control accessories also.
Bob in Calif. - cruzkidExplorerThanks guys.
