just have your local propane supplier bring a couple of tall tanks in and let him handle it. he can refill one tank when other goes empty.

Sturgi-Stay is the name of what was called Extend A Stay. The ads are essentially the same and even the Extend a Stay graphics are used. There are several other manufacturers and they are pretty much the same regardless of who made them. The deluxe kit is $94 and simple to install. You only need an open end wrench for one fitting. As Mr. Wizz said thousands in use.

No need for any quick disconnects and your original regulator will work fine.

We were connected to a 250# propane tank while wintering and hosting at a forest service park. They just installed another valve in the big tank on the motorhome, ran copper piping from the pig to that new valve. Shut the normal propane valve off and all propane was then supplied thru the 2nd valve from the pig. DH did all this and I don't know the technicalities but the propane regulator that is already on the tank still regulated the gas pressure. If we ran out, we could just change which valve was turned on to change the supply. We are currently parked and didn't get a chance to fill the large on board tank, so are running with a 20# tank that we can just refill. That is now connected to that 2nd valve.

So you are saying there is a way to connect an external tank to the RVs entire propane system? Because that would be good too... As of right now we've only been using the stove and there is still propane in the on board tank but we would like to use the fridge and I know eventually the onboard tank is going to run out...

You can buy "extend stay" and use it in reverse, but I don't trust those quick connectors on long run and prefer solid pipes.
Any plumber or advanced DIY will be able to make a Tee on the pipe going from the coach tank and connect it to external tank. Do it before pressure regulator and the connections can be small size.
I would also use copper tubing instead of rubber hoses.
3/8" tubing on high pressure side should give you plenty of flow to run even furnace.
