I would not be concerned about the 250 HP Cummins 8.3 liter C engine in terms of power.
I WOULD check the coolant-- it is a linered engine. If coolant SCA has been neglected (many first-time diesel owners don't even know about it) the cylinder liners are at risk-- a deal killer.

They check freeze point, pH and SCA concentration
