I agree you seem to be getting good advice...
I would add the need to do an in person walkthrough. With age comes problems and smells.
If it smells damp or if it smells fresh and clean (not like fresh fabric softener) tells you a lot about how it was kept and its overall condition.
Mind you, these are all suggestions to learn the condition and any aches and pains (all have some).
But ultimately it is up to you if the style, condition, and "character" are to your liking.
Our first popup years ago (still have it, just in case) had electrical issues, used lots of propane (leaks), fridge didn't work properly, etc. But the price reflected it and the condition and cleanliness were excellent. We purchased it as these were all things well within my capabilities.
And we were very happy- just upgraded to something more suited to our longer trips.
I'd make darn sure the Transmission is ok without slipping.
Diesel vs gas....today's gas is HORRIBLE and goes bad very quickly. Diesel lasts MUCH longer with water being the main concern, which is easily handled by good filters.
I can let my diesel tractor sit for months and it fires up like new after a few minutes of warmup. Keep water out and quality fuel, and storage times won't really bother it.
Good luck on your decision.
