You have taken the same path we have taken, over the years: tent, popup, bumper pull, three fivers and now a DP.
We love the DP but it costs more to own than you may expect. It has more moving parts to maintain, annual license (tax) in most states is much more, they love Diesel fuel. Insurance is more. Some states require residents to have a special drivers license.
You will have lots of expenditures you may not have considered, like:
1. Do you need to buy a tow dolly or a flat towable vehicle?
2. The towing equipment needed to adapt the towable, like brake, hitch, base plate, etc.
If you live in a state with extremely high taxes consider purchasing as a corporate owner in Montana.
