After one cross country trip with a friend we both agreed that the 45' Allegro Bus we were traveling in was too long. It is so easy to get yourself into a bind in cities. You will basicly have to stay with truck routes. Many public campgrounds can also present problems.
It is, however, nice to have the space and an extra toilet when you have four people on board.
We have a 42ft. Gulf Stream Tour Master without a tag axle. We travel with a couple with a 40ft. Holiday Rambler Endeavor in the spring and the fall as we are full timers and spend our winters in south Texas. I have yet to see a place he could go that I couldn't. I think when you throw a toad on the back of both, there is very little difference in maneuverability. One difference is though, with a 42 footer we have room for a king size bed. Towing four wheels down you can't back up anyway. However a 45 footer may very well be a different story.
