convection microwave in MH

Just saw a U tube video about a full timer that was complaining about his convection microwave venting into the mh. I asked my wife about ours and she said ours is the same. Thankfully she doesn't use it much but is that how all are vented? Seems crazy to vent it this way.
  • Ours is vented into a space that is connected to one of the roof top exhaust fans
  • I have a convection microwave, but it's also my range vent.

It's the range vent that usually routed inside, not the oven itself. The routing has no effect on the oven. Mine is also routed inside.
  • Almost ALL Home Convection Units are vented to the inside of the Kitchen. Very few Homes have a Mount for the Convection oven on an exterior wall to vent outside. When the Convection ovens are unpacked(99% are regular HOME Ovens), the exhaust fan is mounted to vent inside. On an RV, it is up to the OEM to determine if they want to cut the exterior hole for venting outside. When that is done, the Fan system is removed and reclocked to blow out the back of the Convection oven. The Oven Fans are designed to be rotated to blow inside or outside. Doug
  • For convection cooking, I was under the general impression that little venting if any is really expected. The purpose of the fan for convection baking is to circulate the hot air in the oven, not to pull it out (so more air comes in and needs to be heated). Similarly, for microwaving, the fan is used not so much to ventilate the oven cavity as to cool the magnetron (and other parts of the microwave oven circuitry).

A convection microwave often is also a range hood, and for that function venting inside or outside can make a very noticeable difference in how much moisture accumulates in the RV.
  • On my Monaco coach, it came with the convection microwave. It also vented to the inside of the coach. I searched for the model number online and found out that I could buy an inexpensive adapter to vent it out the rear of the cabinet. I removed the microwave, cut the hole in the wall, installed an exterior vent cover, that hinged out when the vent was on, and reinstalled the microwave. I have used it like that for several years now and it also gives me the advantage of being able to vent odors and heat when I am using the stove as well.

I would Have to AGREE - this is the Correct Info - a convection Oven Does Not Vent????????????????????????

I Cook, and am puzzled by the question/statement.

Vents, vent, some may be directed to the interior of the kitchen then it is just a Blower. Ovens, cook, Convection is just using a fan to keep the heat even, cooking faster.

Definition of Convection Cooking - "A convection oven circulates hot air with a fan. Unlike conventional radiant (also called thermal) ovens, convection ovens have a fan that continuously circulates air through the oven cavity. When hot air is blowing onto food, as opposed to merely surrounding it, the food tends to cook more quickly".

    What am I missing????????????,

You are correct. The OP did not explain the venting correctly. The Vent Fan system is for pulling air in the bottom screens and exhausting out the backside(external) or to the Interior. Convection uses an interior fan to circulate the air like you described. Doug
