Hello everyone!I recently completed converting a 2006 F350 Ambulance. I took it to the Arizona MVD for a level 3 inspection and it is now recognized and titled as a Motorhome!I wanted to ask this communities opinion about my design, price, and get general feedback. If I read your info right, you only have AC in the house portion IF the vehicle engine is running. This might not be too appealing for people that travel in hot areas of the country during the Summer. The workmanship does look great. Nice project.

Hi,The workmanship looks great. I like some of the cool ideas you implemented to maximize the space. Unfortunately, most of these projects tend to be a "labor of love" and recouping what you put into them isn't always in the cards. I hope that's not the case for you, but just be prepared.I can see how a single traveller might be able to make this work, but for more than one, there is no privacy inside the rig. Travellers better be really chummy and get along well! Even then, some folks like to do their "bathroom thing" in privacy. And understandably so. Also, it looks like you have to extend the back to take a shower, is that correct? That's not very convenient in many locations, especially in inclement weather. Maybe out in the desert it could work, but even then, your subject to the outdoor temps...hot or cold. One of the biggest drawbacks of this conversion over a van conversion or a bus/Class A conversion is that you cannot access the living portion from the driver's seat without exiting the vehicle. THAT is a HUGE convenience for Class A, B & C RVs, and I would guess this will be a major draw for folks looking for a motorized RV. The ability to just get up, go grab a cold drink or use the potty without having to leave the vehicle is by far one of the key advantages of owning a motorhome over towing a trailer. I guess time will tell, though. The other thing I noticed...it looks like you have two propane tanks inside a sealed storage cabinet outside, is that correct? Is that legal? I thought propane tanks had to be in a vented storage space and are usually left completely open (underneath) in most motorhomes. My recommendation, though, is next time work on a van or small bus conversion. I think you'll have something that will be more marketable and better satisfy the wants of folks looking for a motorized RV. I wish you good luck in selling it. I'd definitely be interested to hear what sort of luck you have doing so. This IS a buyers market for RV's now, so I can't imagine a better time to try to sell something that is so unconventional. Thank you for the input! I’m new to this so not sure how to reply...The build had two AC’s in the “house” portion. To your point I will specify that one AC is run by the vehicle engine the other is driven by solar and batteries. Rick Jay thank you for the kudos and the well thought out pros and cons of the build! As far as the propane goes feel reassured that the compartment they are in is well ventilated and the propane tanks are securely fastened and will remain upright. Just one thought -- it still looks an awful lot like an ambulance on the outside. The thought that some people may have died in it may or may not freak out some buyers, so the less it looks like an ambulance the better, or so I would think.Maybe get rid of the extra lights on the outside, and have some cool graphics added to it. It needs to read RV more than it needs to read ambulance conversion.Workmanship does indeed look superb. Congrats!

But now it sound like you are NOT asking about insurability as the vehicle IS insured.

JaxDad If you are trying to ask if I paid a company money to certify the vehicle. I have not paid a company money to certify the vehicle. However, though I am not a business owner and did this build for fun I am aware of all such points and the build meets them.

If their is a company you recommend that has a reasonable fee please let me know. Also it is not a boondocking only rig. It is wired with a 30amp shore power hook up and can be plugged into and completely run from your local campground power source.

While I hope the bids go through the roof, or at least cover your reserve, my guesstimate is around $15k-$20k range at best. Currently on EBAY with top bid at $10,100....... interesting to see the final results. And again, hoping you do quite well and my guesstimate is wayyyyy off.

I think you might have misinterpreted / misunderstood my comment.

HAVING the required life safety items is VERY different from being CERTIFIED as meeting all the required standards.

You are saying a registered group has certified that unit as being built to, and in compliance with, the required standards?

Hey RetiredRealtorRick, I have considered making it look more aesthetically pleasing on the outside but decided to leave it as a “sleeper” if you will rather an undercover camper...with a deck that is :)

After reviewing market prices I agree the price was a bit aggressive not to say it wouldn’t be worth it but to be competitive I have reduced the price. Thanks for the feedback VA-Apraisr and Grit Dog!

LP gas timed leak test at cook top burner
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) circuits
Wall receptacles and ground fault
Hot Skin test on exterior
Emergency exit windows
Fire Extinguisher
Smoke/Fire Detector
Carbon Monoxide Detector (if applicable)
LP Gas Detector
Rubber grommet around LP gas line of water heater (if equipped)

Along with all other motorhome points of inspection.

Wow..beautiful workmanship for such a small space. Functionally, a lot of drawbacks as mentioned above. With mileage and space limitations, you're going to have a lot of competition with standard RV's priced from $35k to $60k that will easily fit 4-7 people. IMHO this is not the project to invest $$ looking for a return on investment. Value in use comes to mind, and hope you have enjoyed using it yourself. All the best on the resale.
