Thanks. It currently has 2 12V deep cycle batteries for the coach and a "regular" battery for the engine. I'd swear the Winnebago we had when I was little charged all 3 batteries with the converter plugged in. Maybe not.
The converter is easy to get at and replace. Not sure if they're all this way, but it's not hard-wired - it's simply plugged into an outlet under the fridge. Obviously the 12V connections are hard-wired.
