I was reading this thread with moderate interest when I started thinking about my own situation. I'm running an M11 with Shell's Rotella Extended Life Coolant Premix. In that I use the ELC I know I don't need to worry about the SCA-DCA issue. So what? Well, yesterday I changed my filters and replaced the coolant filter with the same one that I took off (Fleetguard WF2071). That filter had been installed at a large Cummins authorized shop. After reading the thread I checked my filter. On the side it indicated "4 Units." Checked the internet and confirmed that this meant four units of DCA.
So, at Brett's suggestion I called Shell and asked what I should do. The Shell engineer said that no damage had been done in the 10,000 miles I had run with that coolant filter. Said that I would have some particulates in the coolant that would not otherwise be there but no harm done. He suggested changing to a blank filter which I will do manana.
So, any of you guys running ELC and having others do your filter changes might want to check your coolant filter for peace of mind.
