Cork Flooring

I have decide to go with the cork flooring in the MH, do you need a barrier under the cork. Is it glued or snap in place. wolfe10 posted on this but I don't remember if he said if glued or snap or if he used a barrier underneath or not. Thanks Roy

  • I had the snap together planks with the pad underneath used for laminate and loved it. It doesn't hold moisture. Extremely durable. Perfect for motorhome.
  • I would recommend that any time you pull up the old flooring, be it carpeting or whatever, that you coat the underlayment plywood/flake board with a polyurethane coating. You just never know when you may get a leak and this is cheap insurance against unnecessary damage to the floor of your coach if there is an accident.

Need for an underlay depends on brand/construction of the product.

With the U.S. Floor product we used, there was a "built-in" underlay-- no additional underlay was recommended.

It is a floating floor, as virtually all natural products are/should be, as there is a small amount of movement with changes in temperature and humidity.

We just left a 1/4" gap at all walls and installed quarter round glued to the wall to cover it. After a season with it, we are very happy with it.
  • Just type Cork Flooring

  • I would trot off to the store u plan on buying it from and ask all those important questions. You do realize cork adsorbs moisture?
